Purpose : Recently, due to the development of electronic devices, short-distance work is increasing, and as a result, concerns about eye health are increasing, and interest in blue light blocking is increasing.
Methods : To develop a functional contact lens material capable of blocking harmful rays, Reactive Yellow 86 was used as a pigment polymer and Propyl gallate as an additive in a silicon hydrogel material to be applied to the manufacture of eye medical soft contact lenses.
Results : The contact angle of produced lens was measured to be 68.25~42.50¢ª depending on the amount of propyl gallate added, and the wettability was found to be improved. In addition, the prepared color soft contact lenses exhibited excellent oxygen permeability and wettability, as well as UV and blue light blocking effects.
Conclusion : In the case of the color contact lens material to which Reactive Yellow 86 and Propyl gallate are applied, it is judged to have excellent ultraviolet and blue light blocking effects while satisfying the physical properties of the basic ophthalmic hydrogel lens.
